As we move towards the commission of new Architecture School with competition winners O Donnell and Tuomey, we take a look back the story of the commission and design of our current beloved Stirling Gallery with its green carpet and exposed construction.
Joining us to tell its story is one of its designers Dave King one of its designers.
Dave and LSA tutor and critic and Director of Practice Shedkm.
Born in 1938 – Dave studied at the Manchester University School before working for 3 years in Liverpool and Chester then moving to London to Denys Lasdun’s office in Queen Annes Street. Five years later he joined Arup Associates and then after seven years a move back to Liverpool s full-time tutor in the Liverpool School of Architecture led to a radical design for the new studio with graduate Rod McAllister. After five years at KM, shedkm with Jonathan Falkingham and James Weston was formed in 1997.
